Our Services
Outreach Services
Individuals who are supported after often lack the life skills or have vulnerabilities the prevent them from successfully moving on to live independently or live in their own house independently. We at ACES UK believe that to ensure that these young person’s make this progression successfully, they require tailored support to navigate the transition from whatever establishment they may find themselves into independent living. We provide assistance in the following areas:
- Budgeting support via use of Moneysense resources and workshops
- Mental and emotional wellbeing
- Seeking employment and work experience
- Fitness and healthy eating
We are able to provide one-to-one support in a self contained site or in a shared site depending on the needs of the young person. Our dedicated staff support young persons to undertake various daily activities as part of preparation for independent living. Our aim is to provide a stable living arrangement for young persons to enable us to equip them with the skills necessary for future life.
At the end of their time with us, we liaise with the young person’s social worker and local authority and sometimes local letting agencies to acquire suitable living arrangements as a follow-on from semi-supported living. In these cases our outreach services can be used as a bridge to ensure successful progression to being able to live alone. Our staff can make weekly or bi-weekly visits to young persons in their new independent accommodation and offer support in any way that is required.
The outreach support we offer covers:
- Help to search for jobs
- Food shopping
- Transportation to appointments e.g. therapy
- Further education and / or apprenticeships
As part of our outreach services, we run a buddy system so that the member of staff in charge of the outreach service for the young person is assigned to them so that for the sake of continuity and familiarity, they can build a comfortable partnership and rapport with the young persons. We have realised that this approach gives the best outcomes as the young persons value the relationship they have with staff and the staff are in sync with what the going on in the young persons life and know how to support without needing to be briefed anew every time.
Feedback to the local authority and social workers is also more cohesive because the team are all conversant with each other. Our expert staff know how to provide guidance that is inclusive and respectful of the young persons and therefore work with the young person to navigate any problems that they may encounter and encourage them to make safer choices where appropriate.
